Hello Ski Racing Families and welcome to another season!

After a slow start to winter, it is great to finally be back to Ski Racing at Chicopee.

Many athletes have already been on a race camp either at Chicopee, Mont-Sainte-Anne or Mont Tremblant.  Hopefully all of you found snow and an open ski hill somewhere over the holidays and had an opportunity to get out and enjoy some family time on the slopes.

CARV Purchases for 2015

This season, CARV’s fundraising efforts from 2014 have allowed us to purchase several more video cameras, as well as a new portable timing system for use by your children’s coaches.

The video cameras are similar to the ones we purchased last year.  They are waterproof and easy to use.  This represents $800 in funding.

The portable timer allows the coaches to quickly and easily set up a timing system on any slope.  It operates wirelessly and is controlled through a ‘watch’ worn by the racer.  Your support of CARV fundraising has allowed us to purchase the timing system and 10 watches.  This represents $3,600 in funding.

This equipment is made available by CARV to all coaches in all divisions.

Where do CARV Funds Come From?

Our funding comes primarily from 3 sources:

Ski- A- Thon

  1. Selling of advertising spots on CARV.caand on our Sponsors Flag
  2. Direct donations from Chicopee Racing Families

Ski- A- Thon.

The tentative date for this season’s Ski- A- Thon is Friday, February 27, in the evening.

As always, CARV will have prizes for the team that raises the most pledges, as well as individual prizes for racers who raise the most funds.  We have already had a generous prize donation from the Pearce family of a Bose iPad Docking Station.  If you have a prize you would like to donate to the Ski- A- Thon, please contact any CARV Board Member or the Race Office.

Advertisers and Sponsors

CARV sells advertising spots on our website and for our Sponsor’s Flag.

This year CARV sold all the spaces we had available!  This represents $3,000 in funding that CARV will be able to apply to the 2016 season.

Bulletin Board

Look for our new CARV Chicopee Racing Bulletin Board located in the locker room, near the entrance to the Rental Shop.  It will be updated soon with pictures of our teams!

Thank you to Chicopee for supplying the materials and labour to install this ‘way cool’ communications tool!

CARV.ca

Check out our website, which is being constantly improved and updated.

This past fall CARV Board Members updated the site and posted some new information on ski tuning, as well as several instructional videos aimed at U12/U10 racers.

We have also updated the look and feel of CARV.ca to include forums for general discussions, carpooling, buy and sell etc. We also have added the ability to upload photos of our racers so we can all add content to share amongst our racing families.

Register on CARV.ca and contribute! There is a handy help page on the site if you have issues registering.

Soon to come on CARV.ca will be pages and pictures for each team in the program.

Blue Mountain Monday Training.

Many parents are not aware that Chicopee offers race training at Blue Mountain on Monday’s throughout the season.

This training is for U14 and U12 racers.  Dates are Jan 12, 19, 26, Feb 2, 9, Mar 2.

While the racers are with their coaches, the parents have an opportunity to meet, ski together and socialize.

Contact the Race Office or the Chicopee website for more information.

Please stay tuned to our newsletters, CARV.ca, and our Bulletin Board for information regarding our next CARV event, the 2015 CARV Ski- A- Thon!
